Five for Friday! More like 20 for Friday!

Hi friends!!
Wow feels like I haven't blogged in eons. Life around these parts has been crazy town! First of all where is fall?!?! Oh right it's Texas and that's almost non-existent  until November,December......now I do have to say last Sunday when it was supposed to be the first day of Fall it did feel amazing! Then something happened :( boo. Well it is Friday! Weehaa! Lots to do this weekend and catch up on. I finally got a new phone!!!! So that means I took pictures of all the happenings. I also have some Ipads for the classroom and starting to use those as well! So I will try to pack this post to fit my link up with Doodle Bugs Five for Friday :)

One of my sweetie pies knows I love owls and she brought me this zip drive !!

We have been trying hard at writers workshop...let's just say we are no experts (especially me) but we are trying!!

We have been studying our major organs and finally finished our shirts!!
They made the heart, lungs, stomach and I forgot to keep their brains (made out of macaroni and glued onto a template and put on a sentence strip to wear as a hat!)

We have our reading and writing walls up and running and utilizing them daily as a reference!

Finally here are some classroom pictures now that we are cruising....

I have printed out some 120 charts and various practice activities and put them in plastic sleeves. One way I keep them organized and teach the kids to put them back correctly is with labels. I just wrapped a small label around the top and when the kids are done using them they can locate the color of label where it belongs. :) Helps me too!

Set up listen to reading in a plastic crate. The only cords out are the headphone cords. The crate helps keep the other cords that plug in tames because I slipped them through the holes at the back! :)

Calendar area! Number of the day poster is very helpful to teach core number concepts. You can grab yours here :) You can build upon the concepts, it is ok if the kids can not do it all at once. You can gradually release certain concepts to them.
We work with building words and one way I keep the kids letter cards organized is with a jewelry hanger. There is enough space for every letter!! Also makes it easy for my teachers helper to put away the cards for me.

So that wraps up my week!! Hope you enjoyed the visit. Now off to get chores accomplished before my parents come see me!!
Have a blessed weekend!!!

Teacher Week 13. My home away from home.

Linking up again with Blog Hoppin for day 2 of Teacher week. Let me first say that I have looked at sooo many other teachers rooms and they are super duper cute! Sadly we are not allowed to hang things from the ceiling, no cute furniture that can collect dust or share "friends", nothing within 3 ft of the door way or 18 inches of the ceiling, no lamps or rugs, we can't decorate our door anymore either. That is why you might see some of my bulletin boards with just border, because we can not cover more than I think 80% of the walls with paper or fabric. :( so bare in mind I am working with constraints here :) also it is not done at all, I plan on posting again more pictures and organization tips when everything gets rolling.

Now please come see where I live 187 days of the year :)

Right when you walk into my room I have my filing cabinets, mailboxes, helper tags, bathroom passes etc. The posters are all my uplifting quotes I have found on Pinterest, etc... and I used to have them on my door but had to move them.

I use the bucket filling as a main part of my classroom management. I have had this for going on 4 years now so well before pinterest and just got lucky finding the cute cups at Target!
My word wall is on the cabinets and I went ahead and put the kinder sight words up.
This is where we will meet with the easel and smart board. We can't have cute rugs so I am going to have to use tape to place on the floor for boundary lines :). This is also my reading wall and where I will put important anchor charts to refer to daily.
My library area for the kiddos- I have the books on the left organized by reading level and the books on the right are my nonfiction, free choice reads

This is my calendar wall as well as where I keep track of team points and secret student.

This is all of my stuff- reading station templates, home readers, my books for certain curriculum concepts
Here is a closer look at the tubs and how I organized them: I have each subject area and then within that tub have categorized type of books so when I get ready to teach that concept there are some read a-louds already chosen.

My math area- please excuse the two colored fabric...I had to go buy more and the section from last year already faded :) This is where all my math anchor charts we create will go up. The red book shelf is my math stations as well as where I store manipulatives throughout the year for easy access.
The long table to the right is my writing station.

Writing wall and fabric of USA.

This is on my counter top where all my stuff is stored. I put things in there that I use daily with the kids (neat treats, clean desk awards, nurse passes, coupons, notes home, etc)

I hope you enjoyed the lil tour. Hopefully it sparked some ideas for you. Please don't hesitate to ask questions or request closer pictures :) I will post throughout the year too for ideas and tips!

ARRRGGGG! Ahoy Matey's and Currently

Linking up with Oh Boy 4th Grade for the August (yes people you read that right) currently.
Listening: Oh how I love silence....not all the time but it sure is nice to sit and listen to nothing.....
Loving: Best Bosses EVER! See below for why...
Thinking: Didn't we just get out of school? I just packed my room up and left and now are gearing up to go back! Time flies too quickly as an adult, make it stop please!
Wanting: I am trying to stop time for a bit but also trying to speed it up so I can go set up my room. This time last year I was all done and ready to go! I have to allot time to rearrange a billion times until I am happy and have some feng shui happening...
Needing: I am so embarrassed to even look at my own nails...I had them done awhile back and now they are growing out and one had an air bubble under it a day after I went and I have coped with it since....plus I am not loving the color choices I made...
B2S: Well since inside my room is owl theme I am always ready to pick up anything cute for that!
I heart sticky notes!! All the time!
Energy! Since I do not drink coffee I don't really have caffeine in the morning or really ever...so I opt for Advocare's Spark! Love this stuff! Pour it in some H2O and you are good to go! I really get a lot done after a little sippy sippy.

Now...ARGGGGGG!
We had our team leader meeting yesterday and I have to say I have the BEST admin. team EVER! I mean I am sure you think you do, but you don't :P haha...Our theme this year is "Discover the treasure of learning" and we are doing a book study of "How to teach like a Pirate" by Dave Burgess. We went to lunch and had out meeting and then went sailing on the high seas! I actually got some sunlight on this person!! Here are some pictures from our pirate adventure.

Can't wait to dive in and see what it has in store! Now on to my last lazy day of summer...next week I have something booked everyday!

3 years!

Tomorrow is my hubby and I's 3 year anniversary! I can not believe it has been three years!

Us meeting and getting married truly was a path only God could have planned. Long story short: I had just gotten out of a broken engagement, 3 months before the wedding. I had no idea where to go from there and if I could even find someone out there that had the same morals and values I held so dear to me. Nevertheless, my mom and dad were very much hurt in the process as well and tired of seeing me sad. So what does my mom do? She types in "single Christian's in _______,Tx" Never in my life had I ever thought of online dating and my mom is not your techy person either that does internet stuff besides looking up recipes. She clicked on a site called "Christian Mingle" (you might have seen the commercials they have now) Little did I know at the time my future hubby's profile is the one she saw first! She calls me at 6:30am the next day telling me I have to check my email asap. I went off to work totally unfocused on that request. When I get home and finally decide to open the email. I pull up his profile and start reading through it. The more I read the more I am intrigued! Someone that has the same beliefs as me? The same morals? A broken engagement previously too?! He even has a cutey boxer to boot! Well of course I am now curious what this online dating thing is all about, especially if he is a Christian!
I sign up for a free account (because I am cheap financially conscientious.) Well with the free account you can't email or do much at all except wait until the person get online...so what do I do Friday night? Wait......and wait......eating in between waiting....FINALLY he is online!  What to say? How to say it? When to type? Can one person be so nervous over a computer screen? Well after I finally built up my courage and said something we ended up chatting over the IM for 2 hours! We talked everyday not sure whether to get each others digits because we were both shy and nervous. The more we talked, the more I grew to like this man. We had even both been saving ourselves for marriage!! I didn't know anyone else like that existed in the world. I told him we were like the last unicorn (movie reference) One thing lead to another after about a week he asked for my number and called me! I was sooooooooo giddy and scared! We talked on the phone many, many late nights and finally decided after awhile we could try skyping. Now things were really nerve-wracking! I mean now he could see me! What would I wear? How do I do my hair? my makeup? Do I sit and Skype, stand?

He was in Arizona at the time of all of this for his degree and little did I know he was originally from the city only 45 minutes from me!
We Skyped for about a month and a half until he was supposed to come home to visit his family for Christmas. Now we were really going to meet in the real flesh!! So my teacher friends and I held a countdown for the day we would meet and it was so exciting! When he finally came over to my house and rang the doorbell I thought I would faint. He came inside and I wanted to shake hands but he asked if he could hug me and let me tell you that was awkward for both of  us ha! We spent everyday he was in town for two weeks together! I even met his family and spent sometime over there as did he with my family! I just knew God was at work. Of course when he had to leave it was very sad and scary. (would he want to continue long distance?) Well he did! We made the best of it and he flew in once a month to see me :) There is nothing better than seeing someone you are falling in love with a the airport knowing they are there to see you! Finally after 5 months of all of that I decided on my spring break to fly out to see him in Colorado (he had moved there from AZ for the school assignment) Now let me tell you I do not fly...dislike it very much. He knew this and made me a book for flying! It was my "survival guide". He scrapbooked pictured of us from the time we met until then and put scripture inside as well. It was the sweetest thing EVER! Little did I know that when I got there 2 days into the trip I would be saying yes to a proposal on top of a mountain!
3 months after the engagement we got married! All done long distance until he could get done with his last school assignment and fly home!!!

I cried like a little school girl when my daddy walked me down the isle. It was a big moment for us me being his youngest daughter and I am very attached to my parents, I'll admit :)
Finally able to kiss my eternal groom! We did all our own vows together and texted them back and forth to practice them until that day and I still forgot some of them!!

This was quite embarrassing to us :) I wanted to put the garter on my ankle and my sister insisted it needed to go up further ha!

Off for the honeymoon! Talk about two nervous adults!
I look back as I type this out and can not but see God's hand in this relationship and in the path he chose for both of us. To come out of two broken engagements thinking God was the center of those relationships somehow when he was really working in others ways to save both of us for each other in more ways than one. I never would of thought I could be blessed with such a man after God's own heart. To look back now and be proud of the decisions we made separately (without even knowing we each existed in the world) to wait and preserve ourselves for the one God had planned as our life mate is very humbling. I am so happy to have spent the past 3 years with him and look forward to many many more! Even though it's been 3 years and we don't have all the years behind us (my parents have been married 38 years!! Such wonderful examples to us)we have learned so many things about love and marriage. God has to ultimately be the center of marriage for it to function and grow as he intended. We may not appreciate that everyday and need to work hard daily for each other, ourselves and others around us to set that example and seek forgiveness when we fall short.
I told you a short but sweet version if you can believe that! To think this is our little family now!

Need to give props to my sissypoo for being our photographer whenever we need her!
