Ain't nobody got time for that! Busy teacher recipe share linky!

"What's for dinner?" Do those words sound familiar? I often ask myself that daily...along with, "What will I take for lunch today?" Another microwavable meal it is! Those of you know as teachers when school is in session free time is almost nonexistent, especially those of you who have your own children. Thankfully all I have to worry about at this point is the hubs, who could eat sandwiches and/or eggs every night and not complain once. I am the high maintenance one in the family ha! I struggle a lot to find time to prepare a meal when I am working during the school year. For one, I lack motivation if I don't have a good, easy recipe; and two I lack motivation...haha! I will be honest. Even though we don't have dumplings of our own yet, our nights are pretty busy. (Bless you who have kids) Goes something like this: get off work, drive home (30 min), play with dogs, go to gym, come home, eat, shower, read together, sleep, wake up at 5:30......that may resemble something you are used to, mixed with kids, practice's etc....so hopefully you feel me when I say "Ain't nobody got time for that!" to make a long drawn out recipe for dinner.

I find things on the internet or in cookbooks to try but sometimes find the process is too time consuming or too many ingredients make me want to fry up some eggs. I don't want to cook every night and we don't have a problem with left overs or eating simple most nights, but I would like some SUPER EASY recipes (crockpot, stove, microwave etc) that are pretty healthy (we do watch what we eat most of the time) to be able to throw together a few times a week or get prepared to throw in the crockpot early in the morning.

Hence, the reason I am starting this linky to help myself, as well as others to share some ideas for quick night recipes and even quick lunch ideas to take to school since we have all of 2 minutes 15 minutes10 minutes 20 minutes technically to shovel the food down before picking up the little's. So here are the guidelines I would like to try to stick to when sharing your ideas of tried and true recipes....

1.  8 or fewer main ingredients (salt, pepper, or spices in a jar don't count as a main ingredient)
2. It can be crock pot recipes, oven, or even microwave.
3. You can include pictures if you like, but don't have to.
4. Include recipes you have actually eaten so you can feel proud :) and we know they taste good too! If you need to credit someone and you can, please do :) you can include a direct link if needed.
5. It can be dinner, lunch, breakfast, snack, or dessert, ideas.
6. Try to keep it pretty healthy, we know eating out is not as bueno for you so I try to keep it clean at home :)
7. Be supportive...let me tell you, try as I might, I am no Betty Crocker!
8. Have fun and enjoy all that extra time you will have at lunch and dinner since you will be rockin some new easy recipes! Because we all know standing at the microwave everyday waiting for your microwavable meal to heat for 5 minutes is a waste of time :P

I am thinking maybe to do this link up twice a month to start and see how it goes...please bare with me I am brand new to doing linky's and have not a clue what I am doing :)

I will share a very easy and quick recipe I found...I can not remember where it came from :( but I am sure it was Pinterest :)

Peanut Butter Protein Balls
Ingredients:
  • oatmeal
  • flax seed
  • chia seed
  • honey or agave (whichever you prefer) honey is a bit more sticky
  • protein powder (I always use chocolate, but I am sure vanilla would work)
  • peanut butter
  • sprinkles (for added color and fun) or mini dark chocolate chips
As you can see I did not put measurements....I don't measure this out haha! I literally get a large mixing bowl and throw it in stopping when I think it looks like enough. I will say you need to layer your dry ingredients between your liquid (PB and honey). I wouldn't put too much honey or agave in if you don't want them too sweet but you will need more if you put a lot of dry ingredients together.
Once you have all in the bowl, you will use a blender to blend it all together. I used my hands the first time and I looked like an oatmeal monster and it was sticky! You should see after a bit of mixing that it is blending. Once done, spoon out a portion and roll into a ball. You can make them as small or as large as you want. If you have left over in the bowl because it won't stick together I just put it in the serving dish and we eat it with a spoon when it gets cold, kind of like granola.
It may take a time or two making them to see how much ingredients you want to use to make a certain amount of protein balls.
Put them in the fridge and let them harden and they are DELICIOUS! I never feel guilty eating 10 at a time because they are so healthy :)
Leftover to keep and eat :)
Now to pay tribute to the original source for my inspiration for the linky :)

BTW- if something doesn't show up or you can't link up etc..please let me know asap so I can figure out how to fix it :) I want everything to be user friendly!

Teacher Week 13. My home away from home.

Linking up again with Blog Hoppin for day 2 of Teacher week. Let me first say that I have looked at sooo many other teachers rooms and they are super duper cute! Sadly we are not allowed to hang things from the ceiling, no cute furniture that can collect dust or share "friends", nothing within 3 ft of the door way or 18 inches of the ceiling, no lamps or rugs, we can't decorate our door anymore either. That is why you might see some of my bulletin boards with just border, because we can not cover more than I think 80% of the walls with paper or fabric. :( so bare in mind I am working with constraints here :) also it is not done at all, I plan on posting again more pictures and organization tips when everything gets rolling.

Now please come see where I live 187 days of the year :)

Right when you walk into my room I have my filing cabinets, mailboxes, helper tags, bathroom passes etc. The posters are all my uplifting quotes I have found on Pinterest, etc... and I used to have them on my door but had to move them.

I use the bucket filling as a main part of my classroom management. I have had this for going on 4 years now so well before pinterest and just got lucky finding the cute cups at Target!
My word wall is on the cabinets and I went ahead and put the kinder sight words up.
This is where we will meet with the easel and smart board. We can't have cute rugs so I am going to have to use tape to place on the floor for boundary lines :). This is also my reading wall and where I will put important anchor charts to refer to daily.
My library area for the kiddos- I have the books on the left organized by reading level and the books on the right are my nonfiction, free choice reads

This is my calendar wall as well as where I keep track of team points and secret student.

This is all of my stuff- reading station templates, home readers, my books for certain curriculum concepts
Here is a closer look at the tubs and how I organized them: I have each subject area and then within that tub have categorized type of books so when I get ready to teach that concept there are some read a-louds already chosen.

My math area- please excuse the two colored fabric...I had to go buy more and the section from last year already faded :) This is where all my math anchor charts we create will go up. The red book shelf is my math stations as well as where I store manipulatives throughout the year for easy access.
The long table to the right is my writing station.

Writing wall and fabric of USA.

This is on my counter top where all my stuff is stored. I put things in there that I use daily with the kids (neat treats, clean desk awards, nurse passes, coupons, notes home, etc)

I hope you enjoyed the lil tour. Hopefully it sparked some ideas for you. Please don't hesitate to ask questions or request closer pictures :) I will post throughout the year too for ideas and tips!

Let's talk about me! Teacher week!

That title reminds me of the Toby Keith song " I wanna talk about me" (country fans should know the song I am referring to) I don't usually like talking about ME, makes me feel weird, but since it is teacher week and I want to join in on the fun I will do it!! However, I am short on time today so I am going to cheat take a short cut :P I posted awhile back for the Liebster award a little about me so I am going to take some info from there! :)

1. I am OCD- personally and in school. I need things to be on an even number, like the TV volume and radio volume. My hubby loves to put it on an odd number and see if I notice...I do....every time! Sometimes it takes us awhile to just get out of the house because I go around checking the doors and plugs a gazillion times, usually an even numbered of times. Although I have gotten A LOT better about that..I think.. I am the team leader for my 1st grade team so I like to think the OCD comes in handy most of the time ha!! maybe we should ask them eh?
2. Met my husband on the internet. Christian Mingle! I blogged about that HERE..interesting story..

3. I love 80's music!
4. I went to a state competition in basketball for shooting when I was in middle school.
5. Played a 4 hour game of tennis in high school as a freshman to qualify for state.
6. Have the most AMAZING family EVER!!! Love them to pieces!
7. I love uplifting others and trying to do nice things for them.
8.Grew up in the country, 1 neighbor over yonder....seriously ya'll..we had to go "into" town!
(here is a picture of the time it snowed in TX....say what?!?!?! yes it did A lot!)

9. I have TMD- missing cartilage in the right side of my jaw :( so it has popped in and out since middle school.

10. Have three amazing doggies that I love so much, even when they are naughty.

My sissypoo is an amazing photographer!!!

Well that's about it folks! Hope I didn't bore you too bad.....can't wait for the rest of the week!!

ARRRGGGG! Ahoy Matey's and Currently

Linking up with Oh Boy 4th Grade for the August (yes people you read that right) currently.
Listening: Oh how I love silence....not all the time but it sure is nice to sit and listen to nothing.....
Loving: Best Bosses EVER! See below for why...
Thinking: Didn't we just get out of school? I just packed my room up and left and now are gearing up to go back! Time flies too quickly as an adult, make it stop please!
Wanting: I am trying to stop time for a bit but also trying to speed it up so I can go set up my room. This time last year I was all done and ready to go! I have to allot time to rearrange a billion times until I am happy and have some feng shui happening...
Needing: I am so embarrassed to even look at my own nails...I had them done awhile back and now they are growing out and one had an air bubble under it a day after I went and I have coped with it since....plus I am not loving the color choices I made...
B2S: Well since inside my room is owl theme I am always ready to pick up anything cute for that!
I heart sticky notes!! All the time!
Energy! Since I do not drink coffee I don't really have caffeine in the morning or really ever...so I opt for Advocare's Spark! Love this stuff! Pour it in some H2O and you are good to go! I really get a lot done after a little sippy sippy.

Now...ARGGGGGG!
We had our team leader meeting yesterday and I have to say I have the BEST admin. team EVER! I mean I am sure you think you do, but you don't :P haha...Our theme this year is "Discover the treasure of learning" and we are doing a book study of "How to teach like a Pirate" by Dave Burgess. We went to lunch and had out meeting and then went sailing on the high seas! I actually got some sunlight on this person!! Here are some pictures from our pirate adventure.

Can't wait to dive in and see what it has in store! Now on to my last lazy day of summer...next week I have something booked everyday!
